Fulbright Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by United States Government
In 1946, the U.S. Congress initiated the Fulbright Program with a lofty objective — to foster mutual comprehension and encourage amicable, peaceful interactions between the citizens of the United States and those of other nations.
Over the past 75 years, Fulbright alumni have left their mark in various sectors such as public service, science and technology, public health, arts, education, and environmental conservation. They have served as educators in local schools, led countries, made revolutionary discoveries, and contributed to the advancement of virtually every academic discipline and field across the globe.
Presently, the Fulbright Program annually bestows around 8,000 merit-based grants to accomplished students, scholars, educators, artists, and professionals from diverse backgrounds and fields.
1. Fulbright Scholar Awards
The majority of the awards offered by the Fulbright Program are Scholar Awards, which are available to professionals, artists, and scholars at all stages of their careers. The location and eligibility criteria differ for each award, and some may be limited to specific career levels or categories of scholars. These details are provided in the award description.

2. Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Awards
The Distinguished Scholar awards are considered the most esteemed appointments within the Fulbright Scholar Program. These awards are open to scholars with over seven years of experience in their respective fields or areas of expertise, although some awards may have additional eligibility restrictions. Distinguished Scholars are expected to actively engage with host institutions, fostering mutual understanding and knowledge exchange.
3. Fulbright Postdoctoral Awards
Postdoctoral Awards offer newly graduated scholars the chance to conduct research and receive professional training overseas. These awards may also involve some teaching. Postdoctoral Awards are open to scholars who will have earned a doctoral degree (Ph.D., J.D., M.D., Ed.D., etc.) within five to seven years of the fellowship's commencement date, as specified in the award description. Degree conferment prior to the start of the award is a prerequisite. There is no requirement for institutional affiliation in the United States.
4. Fulbright International Education Administrator Awards
This award offers international education professionals and senior higher education officials the chance to participate in a two-week intensive seminar. The seminar provides an opportunity to learn about the host country’s education system and establish networks with U.S. and international colleagues.
