The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is an initiative aimed at elevating the standard of education in Indiana, promoting the positive impact of Indiana community foundations, and fostering collaboration among Lilly Endowment Community Scholars and state leaders to enhance Indiana's quality of life.
The Endowment recognizes the crucial role of education in the personal, civic, and economic prosperity of Indiana's residents and communities. The program's objective is to inspire some of Indiana's brightest students to pursue higher education within the state and ultimately establish their careers in Indiana.
The Independent Colleges of Indiana administers the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, with substantial involvement from the community foundations that serve each of Indiana's 92 counties.
Program Highlights:
- Provides full tuition, mandatory fees, and a book allowance for four years. (Does not cover room, board, or travel costs.)
- Recipients can choose to attend any public or private, four-year Indiana college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
- Applicants must hold a high school diploma from an Indiana high school accredited by the State Board of Education or a national or regional accreditation agency recognized by the State Board of Education.
- Applicants must be Indiana residents.
- Selection criteria, procedures, and application deadlines differ by county.
- Recipients are required to undertake full-time undergraduate study in a baccalaureate program.
- Each year, 147 scholarships are granted.
