The scholarship is a $1,000 grant given yearly to a deserving undergraduate student. The recipient is free to use the award in any way they see fit. Additionally, the recipient will be granted a one-year free student membership in SHAPE America. All application materials should be submitted by October 15.
Qualification Criteria
- The scholarship is available to any student who is officially recognized as an undergraduate majoring in school-based health education at an accredited college/university in the United States or a U.S. territory.
- For eligibility, the applicant must be a full-time student (12 hours) at a college or university for both the fall and spring semesters of the academic year during which the student is applying. The student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of application.
- Applicants must have a minimum, current overall grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale at the SHAPE America application deadline.
Previous SHAPE America undergraduate award recipients are not eligible to apply.
Instructions
Fill out the online application form and submit the required documents listed below. Applications will be accepted from August 1 until October 15.
Application Process
The online application form consists of the following sections:
- Resume - attach a current resume that includes extracurricular/service activities (professional organizations, school, community) and any academic honors, awards, etc. within the past two years.
- Essay - attach an essay outlining your interest in health education, career and professional goals, and what you aim to achieve as a health educator in training and in the future. (Your essay should be approximately 400 - 450 words in length)
- Transcript - attach a current transcript PDF of all college study completed, including the fall semester.
