Dyslexia/Auditory Processing Disorder Scholarship

Since 2013, Gemm Learning has been offering a scholarship for undergraduate students in the US/Canada who are living with dyslexia and/or auditory processing disorder.

Overcoming the hurdles posed by dyslexia and/or auditory processing disorder to secure a college admission requires tenacity and strength of character. The Gemm Learning Dyslexia/APD scholarship is designed to acknowledge and reward this determination.

The application procedure is straightforward. We invite you to share your personal journey in the form of an essay titled either "Living With Dyslexia" or "Living With Auditory Processing Disorder". Your essay should provide an educational or inspirational perspective, offering a unique understanding of the challenges of living with a learning difficulty.

Besides the $1,000 scholarship, the winning essay will be showcased on Gemm Learning’s blog.

Details and Requirements for the Scholarship

No formal application is required. Simply email scholarships@gemmlearning.com with the following:

• An essay of 500-650 words on either "Living With Dyslexia" or "Living With Auditory Processing Disorder" (please attach your essay to the email in Word or PDF format only, no links)
• Evidence of college enrollment. Note: high school seniors and students deferring are not eligible. Acceptable proof of enrollment includes a dated class schedule or Student ID, tuition payment receipt, or a formal letter from your school confirming your enrollment for the fall semester. The full name of your University or College must be visible. An acceptance letter does not constitute proof of enrollment.
• By submitting your essay and proof of enrollment, you grant Gemm Learning the right to publish your essay and your full name on our website and/or blog.
• Essays submitted without a name will not be considered.

We will start accepting applications for the 2025 Dyslexia/APD scholarship from September 1, 2025. All essays and proof of enrollment must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on October 31, 2025.

The scholarship recipient will be announced by November 15, 2025, and the information will be updated on this page. This will be the only form of winner announcement, so please keep checking. The recipient will be notified via email. If there is no response within three (3) days, the scholarship will be forfeited. The scholarship amount will be directly paid to the recipient’s educational institution in December 2025. By submitting your application, you consent to the publication of your essay on our website, irrespective of whether you win the scholarship or not.
