ELG Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Environmental Litigation Group, P.C.
We understand the profound impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a family, altering its dynamics and affecting the emotional health of each member. The ripple effects of such a diagnosis are far-reaching, often leading to parents leaving their jobs to focus on treatment, and a significant reduction in the family's income. Our mission is to assist students who have experienced the heart-wrenching struggle of a loved one battling cancer, by providing some financial relief to support their continued education.
The founder of our firm experienced this firsthand, as his father battled an asbestos-related disease. Many of our staff members have also endured the traumatic experience of supporting a family member through their fight with cancer."
Our asbestos scholarship fund was initiated over half a century ago, with the aim of offering financial assistance to the children and grandchildren of our clients who had settled asbestos litigation cases. Since its inception, over 160 students have benefited from the asbestos scholarships, attending 47 different colleges and universities, including prestigious institutions such as Auburn University, University of Alabama, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Stillman College, Spelman College, and University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). In 2005, we broadened the eligibility criteria to include all students who have a family member diagnosed with cancer.
