ITE University Scholars Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Community of Transportation Professionals
Overview
This program welcomes students enrolled in U.S. high schools or community colleges who plan to transfer to a four-year university and are interested in pursuing a career in transportation. Eligible academic focuses include transportation engineering, transportation planning, or closely related disciplines. Preference is given to applicants who are first-generation college students and those from low-income households. Applicants who qualify for Pell Grants (based on the FAFSA) will receive priority consideration, though students who do not qualify for Pell are still eligible for review.
Students admitted to the ITE University Scholars Program may continue participating as long as they make satisfactory progress toward a degree in transportation engineering, planning, or a related field and meet the program’s minimum GPA and academic standing requirements described below.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet and maintain the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a U.S. high school or a U.S. community college.
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Intend to major in, or have declared a major in, transportation engineering, transportation planning, or a related academic field.
- Plan to enroll full time (or be enrolled full time) at an accredited college or university that has an ITE student chapter.
- In good academic standing with their current school.
- Minimum high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Additional preferences (used in selection decisions):
- First-generation college student status (neither parent has earned a baccalaureate degree).
- Low household income—applicants eligible for Pell Grants will be prioritized, but applicants who are not eligible for Pell will still be considered.
Continuation in the program requires ongoing compliance with these standards, including maintaining the GPA and academic progress benchmarks established by the program.
