As a leading provider of long-distance moving services in the United States, North American Van Lines is dedicated to fostering community engagement and promoting the growth of the moving services and cross-country moving sectors. We firmly believe that education is the key to nurturing competent professionals who will drive our industry forward in the future.
In line with this conviction, we are excited to launch our inaugural Logistics Scholarship competition. Three fortunate eligible participants will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to support their studies in logistics or supply chain management at their chosen college or university.
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college/university, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Logistics or a related field.
- Only one entry is allowed per participant.
- North American Van Lines employees, professional associates, and agents (including their immediate family members) are not eligible to participate.
- Applicants must adhere to IRS regulations to be eligible for the tax-free benefits of the scholarship, which include the following:
- The scholarship amount should not exceed your expenses;
- The scholarship should not be designated or earmarked for other purposes (like room and board), and should not stipulate that it cannot be used for qualified education expenses;
- The scholarship should not be a payment for teaching, research, or other services required for receiving the scholarship.
- You must be a Degree Candidate, which means you either:
- Attend a primary or secondary school, or are pursuing a degree at a college or university; or
- Are enrolled in an educational institution that:
- Offers a program that can be fully credited towards a bachelor's or higher degree, or provides a training program to prepare students for a recognized occupation; and
- Is authorized under federal or state law to offer such a program and is accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation agency.
- An eligible educational institution is one that primarily provides formal instruction, typically maintains a regular faculty and curriculum, and usually has a regularly enrolled student body attending at the location where it conducts its educational activities.
- Qualified education expenses, for the purpose of tax-free scholarships and fellowship grants, include:
- Tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at an eligible educational institution; and
- Course-related expenses, such as fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for the courses at the eligible educational institution. These items must be mandatory for all students in your course of study.
- Qualified education expenses do not cover the costs of:
- Room and board, Travel, Research, Clerical assistance, or Equipment and other expenses not required for enrollment or attendance at an eligible educational institution.
Application Process:
- Fill out all necessary sections of our online application form.
- Ensure to attach the following documents to your application form:
- A copy of your most recent academic transcripts.
- Proof of enrollment at your college.
- Your Essay.
Submission Guidelines:
Write and submit a concise essay of 400 to 800 words, explaining why you have chosen a career in logistics/supply chain management as your college major. We encourage a personalized tone that reflects genuine experiences and feelings—there's no need for excessive formality. We're interested in understanding why you are genuinely passionate about logistics as your chosen career path!
Awards:
- Total award - $3,000; Number of awards - 3.
- Maximum award - $1,000 per recipient.
- The award amount will be issued to your school in the form of a check and sent to your personal address.
