Empowered Resident Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by PracticeMatch
Since its inception in 1990, PracticeMatch has been dedicated to equipping physicians with the necessary education and career opportunities to achieve their personal and professional aspirations. In 2017, the organization initiated a new tradition aimed at supporting residents and fellows in their commitment to providing care for others. This led to the establishment of the PracticeMatch Empowered Resident Scholarship, designed to recognize and reward students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and a dedication to the welfare of others.
The scholarship is intended to alleviate the financial burden of education for current residents and fellows. To apply, candidates are required to submit their CV along with an essay of at least 500 words. The essay should articulate the candidate's motivation for pursuing a career in medicine and outline how they intend to utilize their education to improve their community and positively impact the lives of others. The successful applicant will receive a $2000 scholarship to be used towards their education.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The evaluation of scholarship essays will be based on the applicant's ability to articulate and substantiate their perspective, rather than on whether the viewpoint aligns with that of PracticeMatch. The judging panel will be looking for clear, well-structured, and logically organized writing. Winning essays will be those that effectively convey an exceptional understanding of the importance of a medical career in caring for others.
SELECTION PANEL
The selection panel will consist of the PracticeMatch executive team and department directors. These individuals have a deep appreciation for the role and influence of healthcare providers in their local communities and across the country.
